Dig Down Media to produce NHL All-Star Weekend 360

Tampa Bay, FL – Following on the success of the 2018 Bridgestone NHL Winter Classic, Dig Down Media has partnered with NBC Sports and Dunkin Donuts to produce 360 video coverage of the 2018 NHL® All-Star Weekend, including the 2018 GEICO NHL All-Star Skills Competition™ and 2018 Honda NHL® All-Star Game in Tampa Bay, Florida, January 27-28. Fans will be treated to more access to the NHL All Star Weekend than ever with 4K 360 video views from on the ice, inside the locker rooms and around the town during the two day Gasparilla Festival coinciding with the event.

Dig Down Media CEO Ian Busching was quoted “We are proud to partner again with NBC Sports, the NHL and Dunkin Donuts to provide fans with an unprecedented amount of behind-the-scenes coverage of the NHL All Star Game in stunning 4K 360.” Footage of the All Star Game and Skills Challenge will be made available on second-screen devices during live gameplay to further enhance NBC Sports broadcast coverage.

With multiple views from around the ice, quick-turnaround 360 video creates significant technical challenges for the team, but ones they are familiar with. “State-of-the-art live stitching, fast-flow editing, and one of the best teams in the business play a huge role in making events like this a success” says Technical Director Ilkka Haapala. “We have to be really mindful of both fan and broadcast sightlines in the arena, so a small form factor is essential to pulling it off.”

Dig Down Media is an emerging media production company and development studio with a focus on immersive media and 360 video content. Past 360 events for NBC Sports include the 2018 Bridgestone NHL Winter Classic and the 2017 NASCAR Coke Zero 400.
