  1. Download the installer

Go to https://www.teamspeak.com/en/downloads and select the installer corresponding to your operating system. If you’re using Windows, select either 32-bit or 64-bit installer. If you are unsure whether your system is 64-bit or not, select the 32-bit installer. Click the download button and save the installer file to a location of your choice.

  1. Install the software

After download is complete, navigate to the download location (by default this will be your ‘Downloads’ folder) and start the installer by double clicking it. Follow the instructions on screen and click ‘Next’. In the following screen you need to accept the terms of the License Agreement. Tick the corresponding checkbox and click ‘Next’.

Depending on your system, you may or may not see the above screen. For convenience, pick the option “Install for anyone using this computer” and click ‘Next’. In the following screen you can pick up a specific install location for the TeamSpeak client. You can use the suggested location and click ‘Next’. In the next screen, pick the option “Recommended: Save in user own files” and click ‘Next’.

You can leave the checkbox in the following screen unchecked and click ‘Install’. After installation is complete, you can check the box “Run TeamSpeak 3 Client” and click ‘Finish’.

How to install a program: Windows | Mac

  1. Running the TeamSpeak 3 client

When first starting the program, you need to accept the License Agreement. (You may need to scroll to the end of the document to be able to click ‘I Accept’). You will next be greeted by the Welcome screen which you can skip by clicking ‘Continue’

Next you will be prompted to create an account. You do not need to do that, you can click ‘Continue without logging in’.

Next you will be asked to select a Nickname. Select something appropriate and click ‘OK’.

  1. Setting up your microphone

Now you will need to set up your microphone inside the TeamSpeak 3 Client. At the top of the TeamSpeak 3 program click on the “Tools” menu then click “Options”.

Mac Users: You can access options by clicking ‘TeamSpeak 3’ in the top left corner and selecting ‘Preferences’.

Select “Capture” in the menu on the left hand side. Inside the “Capture” area, click on the “Capture Device” drop down and select your appropriate device from the list. For example, if you have an USB microphone or an audio interface like Scarlett 2i2, it should be listed by name in the drop down menu.

Next you need to select the microphone activation method. We recommend using ‘Continuous Transmission’. This means everything you say when inside a TeamSpeak channel, is transmitted. Select the said option by clicking the radio button next to it. Apply the changes by clicking ‘Apply’.

Note: If you are a performer, we recommend you also disable any Digital Signal Processing options for optimal audio quality. For example, untick the option ‘Remove background noise’.

  1. Setting up your playback device

Inside the ‘Options’ dialog, Select “Playback” in the menu on the left hand side. Inside the “Playback” area, click on the “Playback Device” drop down and select your appropriate device from the list.

You can test your Playback system by clicking the ‘Play Test Sound’ button. Above the button you can find volume adjustment sliders. Note that the ‘Voice Volume Adjustment’ slider has no effect on the test sound that is played, but is used to adjust the volume of other people’s voices inside the TeamSpeak channels. (Apply the changes by clicking ‘Apply’)

You can now exit the Options screen by clicking ‘OK’

  1. Connecting to a TeamSpeak server

At the top of the TeamSpeak program, click on ‘Connections’ and then click on the option ‘Connect’.

Type in the server address you have been given in the ‘Server Nickname or Address’ field and also fill out the field labeled ‘Nickname’ with your name. If the server you are joining has no password, you can leave that field empty. Click ‘Connect’.
